Research Article Competition
Women’s Access to Productive Resources, Time-use and Labour Market Outcomes in the northern part of Cyprus

Turkish Cypriot Association of University Women, under the Parity Project which is funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, is conducting an article writing competition aimed at exploring the issues surrounding gender inequalities and obstacles in women’s access to productive resources and decision-making mechanisms in northern part of Cyprus.
We invite unpublished original research articles on the following subjects:
- Cultural, social, and economic barriers that hinder women’s access to productive resources, also including women’s own labour and time.
- Gender disparities in labour market and participation in corporate decision-making
- Gender roles, unpaid care work and its implications on women’s access to productive resources, economic opportunities, and corporate decision-making
- Gender differences in time-use
- Intersectionality and how multiple identities (includes but not limited to disability status, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity etc) intersect to affect women’s access to productive resources and corporate decision making.
Submission Guidelines:
Eligibility: The competition is open to all academics, individual researchers, civil society activitists/CSOs and students interested in gender studies.
Article Abstract/Proposal: A short proposal/abstract of the article describing the focus of your article, contribution and methodology (max. 500 words), should be sent to [email protected] by the submission deadline in Turkish or English.
Article Length and other specifics: Submissions should be between 4,000 to 6,000 words, written in Turkish or English. The manuscript should use APA Formatting and Style Guide (7th Edition).
Data Usage: Participants are invited to utilize quantitative data from a time-use survey (based on harmonised European time use survey methodology) collected by TCAUW between November 2024-October 2025. The dataset will be distributed to all interested applicants free of cost. Alternatively, original and contemporary articles using existing quantitative datasets and qualitative data related to the theme are also welcomed.

Selected articles are also going to be published as an Edited Book in Turkish and English.
